Natalie offers a complete equine massage and training service.
Equine massage is a very effective and natural therapy, and extremely beneficial for horses or ponies at any level. By assessing the horse as a whole, it enables all possible causes and effects of any pain, tension or decrease in performance to be considered. Massage should be part of the routine care of the horse. Used during training and pre- and post-competition it keeps muscles healthy, builds up those that may have wasted, maintains strength and suppleness, and prevents atrophy during a period of box rest or restricted work. After exertion massage minimises stiffness and speeds repair to tissue damaged as an inevitable result of physical stress and fatigue. Passive stretches help to keep or restore joints and muscles to full working capacity. It can be invaluable if your horse displays any of the following-
-
lateral stiffness
-
stiffness on one rein
-
lack of poll flexion or bend
-
difficulty maintaining outline and engaging hind-quarters
-
reluctant to jump, or bucks
-
uneven stride
-
excessive rolling, or holding tail to one side
-
exhibits behavioural problems, ie. head-shaking, biting
-
cold-back symptoms.
Exercise and training programmes are offered, with a customized assessment and plan for each horse. Methods used include Natural Horsemanship, ground-work and lunging. A re-schooling and ridden service is also available. Special attention is given to problem and difficult horses
